Stonehill Hackathon
Hackathons provide a venue for self-expression and creativity through technology. People with technical backgrounds come together, form teams around a problem or idea, and collaboratively code a unique solution from scratch — these generally take shape in the form of websites, mobile apps, and robots. Stonehill Hackathon is a chance for you to channel your inner entrepreneurs and work with your teams on specific problems to develop a new product or service within 24 hours!
My Experience:
The Stonehill Hackathon 2024 was a thrilling event that pushed my technical and creative abilities to their limits. Based on my inquiry into environmental sustainability, I built "Eden Gardens," a climate-controlled greenhouse specifically for seasonal or endangered plant species. Beyond being a technological exercise, this work delved deeply into the potential of sustainable indoor farming in the future.
I built an entirely regulated environment with technologically advanced elements in Eden Gardens. Soil moisture sensors were integrated into my automated watering systems, guaranteeing that plants were watered according to their requirements. For each plant, I carefully adjusted the environmental conditions, including the temperature, humidity, and air pressure. In addition, I streamed certain music and employed UV illumination, both of which have been shown to improve plant development.
Using thermal imaging for disease detection was the most unique feature created. This technology scanned plants using thermal sensors to detect temperature abnormalities that could be signs of stress or illness, enabling early intervention. I enabled remote monitoring and administration by integrating this capability with AWS. As a result, individuals could manage their Eden Gardens from any location, completely changing the face of urban farming.
Coming out on top in the hackathon was a huge confidence booster. It proved that Eden Gardens was a viable and innovative concept. As further evidence of my proficiency in database administration and algorithmic problem-solving, I took first place in concurrent events such as the SQL Rush and the Java Quest.
I placed a great deal of importance on this hackathon. I was thrilled about the chance to combine my love for technology with my dedication to sustainability. As I worked on Eden Gardens, I had the chance to investigate how smart technology may revolutionize urban farming. Because of this, I am more determined than ever to find new ways to use technology to improve our planet.

Bangalore International School (BIS) Hackathon (ECHLON)
Attending the ECHELON 2023 event was like stepping into a dynamic microcosm of innovation, where technology and problem-solving converged in unexpected ways. The challenge my team and I faced was both thrilling and daunting—proposing solutions to aviation problems, specifically focusing on air traffic control. The sheer complexity of coordinating the skies, where hundreds of planes intersect at any given moment, provided the perfect backdrop for us to brainstorm creative solutions. We weren’t just solving a theoretical issue; we were addressing a real-world problem that impacts millions of people globally, which made the stakes feel incredibly high.
Our team spent hours dissecting the intricacies of air traffic control systems, identifying key pain points such as congestion, delays, and communication breakdowns. We proposed an AI-driven traffic control system that not only predicted and avoided bottlenecks but also communicated with pilots in real-time, offering alternate routes to optimize flight paths. As we worked through the technical aspects, something clicked inside me—this wasn’t just about code or data; it was about using technology to make people’s lives better. That realization shaped how I approached problem-solving in the future, reinforcing the idea that technology, when used thoughtfully, can be a powerful tool for social impact.
This experience didn’t just make me a better coder; it made me a more thoughtful innovator. It challenged me to think beyond technical execution and consider the broader impact of the solutions I create. Collaboration was key, and working alongside brilliant minds in a high-pressure environment helped me grow not just as a technologist, but as a leader who thrives in situations that demand both precision and creativity.
